CHaMP - The Galactic Census of High and Medium-mass Protostars

CHaMP Data Release Bank

This page focuses on data products from the inception of CHaMP (2002) to around 2013, ie Data Releases 1 and 2. Please read the Data Release User's Guide for more up-to-date details on DR1-5. Please also note the usage policy for these products, which is that (1) at least, the appropriate references should be cited for incidental use of these data, or (2) for significant use of these data, one of the CHaMP team should be included as a collaborator or co-author on the new work.

Below is a listing of the data files freely available for public download. Typically, you'll want to right-click each link to "Save as..." the linked FITS or postscript files. We encourage colleagues to contact us for advice or projects related to these data.

CHaMP Data Release 0 (DR0):

CHaMP Data Release 1 (DR1)

DR1 currently consists of FITS cubes, data tables, and pipeline software used in generating results.

  1. Pipeline Software

This is a list of the pipeline software we've either utilised and/or developed ourselves to derive our results, available for free download.

    • Otfnew – preliminary data processing
    • Livedata – ATNF data reduction software
    • Gridzilla – ATNF data reduction software
    • PPlot – Main script that generates moment maps and conducts various bookkeeping tasks, based on an original script by Tony Wong from 2006, but includes many improvements over the original.

  3. Data Tables

These data tables are from Paper I

  4.

  5. HCO+ FITS Cubes and Moment Maps

In the table below, various FITS cubes can be downloaded from the CHaMP dataset. Certain Regions are split into two maps, denoted by (1) and (2) following the Region name in column 4. Also, certain Regions contain sources over a variety of velocity ranges. For these instances, multiple moment maps (up to three per Region) were derived (and are available for download) at various velocity integrals as defined in column 5 of the table below. Files available include:

    • Velocity Field (mom1)
    • Velocity Dispersion (mom2)

CHaMP Data Release 2 (DR2):

Selected N2H+ moment maps and AAT K-narrowband images of ~20% of the CHaMP cloud sample. See Barnes et al 2013 for full details.

  1. N2H+ FITS Moment Maps

In the table below, various FITS files can be downloaded from the CHaMP dataset.

    • Integrated Intensity (mom0)
    • Velocity Field (mom1)
    • Velocity Dispersion (mom2)
    • Peak Intensity (momM2)
    • RMS map (rms)

  3. Infrared K-narrowband FITS Images

In the table below various AAT images can be downloaded from the CHaMP dataset. The IRIS2 camera has a 7.7 arcmin field of view; therefore, for the larger Regions, there are many camera fields contained within. The field names in the first column are therefore only labels: the actual clumps are defined by their coordinates from the catalogues in Paper I (see DR1 above). Files available include:

    • Line-free K-continuum filter (Kcont)
    • Continuum-subtracted Brackett-gamma (Brg)
    • Continuum-subtracted H2 v=1-0 S(1) (H2v1-0)
    • Continuum-subtracted H2 v=2-1 S(1) (H2v2-1)
